Treating the skin with extreme cold temperatures has existed in the medical practice for over 100 years to remove skin tags and dark spots using a safe spray of cold, dry ice called Carbon Dioxide. The use of Carbon Dioxide as a form of cryotherapy has been the focus of hundreds of studies and has been clinically proven to be safe and effective on a wide range of benign skin lesions.
CryoClear® works by spraying Carbon Dioxide onto the skin, which freezes superficially at -79° C to a depth that only treats the epidermal layer, delivering a very safe and clinically effective treatment to superficial skin conditions. Because of CryoClear’s shallow but effective depth of freeze, it greatly minimizes the risk of blistering, scarring and hyper-pigmentation that is usually associated with colder forms of cryotherapy. CryoClear’s high efficacy combined with less destruction of healthy tissue makes it perfect for treating age spots, sun spots and skin tags on sensitive areas like the hands, face and neck.
We recommend that you apply a daily moisturizer plus an SPF30+ inorganic sunscreen to the treated area to keep it healthy and protected from the sun. 7 to 10 days after treatment, mildly exfoliate the treated area. With CyroClear, you have no lifestyle restrictions – live life as usual!
Your treated area will immediately turn darker and you might experience some tingling or itching for a few hours after treatment. The treatment site will remain dark for about 10 days when your body will “slough” off the dead tissue. Next, you will see pink healthy tissue which will return to your normal skin color in a few weeks. In some cases, it can take four to six weeks for normal pigmentation to return.
Yes! Because of CyroClear’s gentle freeze, CryoClear is safe for people with sensitive skin. If this is an area of concern, what we recommend is to consult with your esthetician and consider cutting back on the recommended treatment time.
CryoClear can be used in conjunction with a variety of procedures such as chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasion and extractions. However, with chemical peels and microdermabrasion, we recommend you wait at least one week before being treated with CryoClear.
CryoClear is less aggressive than other methods of cryotherapy such as liquid nitrogen or liquid nitrous oxide, where the likelihood of blistering, scarring and hypo-pigmentation is greater.
